Great find Matt, You kind of new it was coming ! To all the sportsmen taking short mako's 100 lbs and under shame on you. 83" that's one inch under 7' I'd imagine thats at least a 200 hundred plus fish.

83" will be about 240 lbs by my calculation....

It might get a little dicey trying to get a 240+ Mako to sit still for a measurement. We'll see what comes next...

Sad day indeed, the charts put fish that size around 240, +/- . As Bill said, how do you get them to hold still for a measurement ? I suspect people will still fish, and "cooler fish" will take the ride home. The target shifts to threshers, and the same course of events will follow, fish them down, shut it down. We are running out of things to fish for ........

What makes this thing even more frustrating is that while NMFS has known that overfishing may be occurring, the new regulations are being directed by ICCAT, an international commission. We are one of the few countries in the world that take enforcement seriously. Throughout much of the world there is no enforcement, ZERO, ZIPPO, NADDA, NOTHING. It's a free-for-all.

It's not going to get any better folks.
