Hank Manley To Be First Guest in 20th Year On TFL Radio

Hank Manley III will be our first guest this Saturday January 4th at 4 p.m. in this our 20th year on WGBB 1240AM radio. Hank will discuss his new book “Tales of a Life Upon the Sea.” The name Manley in fishing is synonymous with quality and firsts. Manley Industries started in 1975 with a slogan of “best damn pliers money can buy" with their now famous 6-1/2" and 5" spring loaded Super pliers. You’ve seen The Fishing Line use these same pliers for 20 years now on TV and this all started with Hank Manley III’s vision. Hank’s boat, a 1984 Escapade was the first boat to catch 1,000 billfish in a year fishing Florida, Mexico, St Thomas and Venezuela. Add 752 sailfish, 333 white marlin, 24 blue marlin and two swordfish for a total of 1,111 billfish.

Hank started Manley Performance in 1966 making engine parts but started with his plier and scale vision in 75’ and in 1997 caught the world's first (and still only) Fantasy Slam: all five species of Atlantic billfish in one day.
