My heart felt concern for those who had their boats damaged in anyway or even sunk during yeterdays devistating hurricane Sandy. A walk along Hudson Ave shows how powerfull and unforgiving mother nature can be. The smell of diesel fuel and vessels of all size and shape were strewn along the street and against homes. Somer almost made their way into the residents homes. If I lived in the area, I can not imagine looking out of my window and watching this situation unfold. Having said that, eventhough we love our boats because they make a statement about our lifestill, our boat insurance will help heal the matter and mostly no one got hurt. Our property will require extensive repair but we will go forward once the smoke settles.

Our club has great strength, even in hard times. Today a work party was assembled at our club. The devastation of cleaning up started:
The e-mail when out by our board under the leadership of President Bill Toohey with a very fine ramrod, Property Chairman Don Granger. The list of volunteers from our club was over whelming. Everyone found a nitch and dough in!

Our club house was completely clean out, thanks to Theresa Morrogh, Leslie Toohey, Nancy Principato, Mike Sullivan, Dr. Weber, Woody Anderson

Our docks were reassembled with all the floating docks placed back on their poles and the ramps reassembled, thanks to Don Granger, Charlie Goldstein, Joe Polly, myself, Doug & Bill Toohey, Harry Weinblatt, Peter Cefai, Bill Morrogh, Joe Principato, George Sinerco new members Tommy with his dump truck & our new member who’s name escape me & who docked his Bahi for the first time at our club……for him a baptism by fire yet he pitched in with great mechanical skills.

All debris was cleared as Peter Cafai with is BobCat stacked all of the freezers, destroyed furnishings and other large bulky items along our fence line for dump pick up.

Boats were also remounted on their trailers and damages were assisted.

All in all we are on our way back to where we were. Much will be needed but much has been done. Today was a very humbling experience to me and I am sure to many others as today our club grew closer together. God Bless and be safe.

I would like to thank everybody who pitched in yesterday to get the Tuna club back into service. It was a job well done by all.

I spent some time yesterday and some time today with my son assiting in the cleanup of our marina. I was stunned at the extent of the damage not only in the village of Freeport itself, but the extent of the damage to the property. Whatever it takes to get our club and marina back up and running, the leadership can count on my loyalty.

[Time Well Wasted]

That is wonderful to hear. My 84 year old parents live one house up from the corner of Hudson and Robert St. It is heartbreaking to see the damage to homes, boats, cars, etc. Thankfully we are all ok and will rebuild. It is simply difficult but by no means impossible.

Hope all in the FTC family are recovering. We also took a pretty big hit in South Bellmore and we need alot of rebuilding before we can move back in. One bright spot was that my canal worked together to string the boats and floaters up across the canal so they just floated in the middle and they were all untouched and unharmed. Here is hoping to a strong recovery for us all!
