Passing of a Freeport Baymen

I'm sure that most of you have already heard of Corey's passing.
He taught me how to build a crab cart and crab traps. I also knew where the bunker schools were between Jones and Lower Bay. He was always there to have bait ready at his house for you sitting in the smoker out front whether it was crabs or eels...."just leave the money in the mailbox". He was a great guy and a truly colorful character but most of all a TRUE BAYMEN..He will be sorely missed.... Capt Paul

A very sad, strange event indeed. RIP to the last of a diminishing breed.
I took a look at the heavily leaning "13" pole this morning on the way out, and can tell you that by afternoon it had been removed, and replaced by a green buoy, still unlucky "13". That was fast ...

Cory Weyant was killed in a boating accident this week. I sure you have all seen him on a work skiff running around the bay or smelled the smoke from his smoke house on the nautical mile.

A great guy and one of the nicest persons I ever met.I have spent plenty of evenings after a duck hunt at his house boat in the bay of fundy.He only asked that you sign the log book.Corey knew where the birds were no matter the weather and was allways willing to educate and share everything he had.He will be greatly missed by our community.Rest in peace Corey.
