Jones Inlet 4/13/16

Post by MBILL »

Took a ride out Jones Inlet today to look around. The tide was incoming, water 45-46 degrees.
Still plenty of seals around.

The inlet channel buoys are in the same position as last fall with the exception of the # 4 buoy.
The #4 is way off station. It's about 1/4-1/2 mile south/southwest of the jetty at this time.
My guess is that it might have been dragged by one of the stone barges using the inlet.

There's quite a bit of shoaling around the #3 buoy. I saw 8-9 feet there at high tide with no swell.

UPDATE:

I spoke to the Coast Guard a few minutes ago.
They have retrieved the buoy and will be resetting it sometime this week.
Good job...
