Batten down the hatches with the approach of Hurricane Irene. You need to take precaution in the event that the hurricane remains on its predicted course.
Check and add lines if necessary, dock boxes should be secured or move to higher ground. High Tide on Sunday is expected at 8:18am and 8:31 pm. remember that the streets in Freeport flood with a storm surge.
Here are a few suggestions that might be helpful:
1. All dock lines should be double up-should one break you will not be in harm’s way.
2. Reduce vessel profile by removing as much canvass as possible.
3. Lower your antennas & outriggers to also reduce damage.
4. Remove all items from your vessel & area which could become missiles.
5. Poly balls between boats or bumpers should be added.
6. Outboard powered boats should put them down to prevent damage
