NMFS Public Comment on BFT Pproposal

If you are a rod and reel bluefin tuna commercial fisherman or recreational angler in the US Atlantic, this should interest you.
NMFS is proposing to transfer some of the US Quota distributed to the rod and reel fisheries (General, Charter/Headboat and Angling Categories) to the Pelagic Long Line Fleet in order to help correct overages in the PLL industry. NMFS is taking public comments on this proposal until January 10. You can see the information from NMFS here:http://www.regulations.gov/#!documen...2013-0101-0791 and make your comments by clicking the "Comment Now" button on the upper right of the screen. Or you can submit written comments to:
Thomas Warren, National Marine Fisheries Service
55 Great Republic Drive
F/SF1, Suite 02-2000
Gloucester, MA 01930.
Please mark the outside of the envelope “Comments on the Draft Amendment 7 to the 2006 Consolidated HMS FMP.”
I did it electronically yesterday, and it was quite easy.
For those of you that are interested, the RFA released this statement yesterday about the proposal. http://joinrfa.org/2014/01/162013-longl ... t-anglers/
Thanks,
Matt
