We received this update from SPLASH listing their 2012 accomplishments. They do a lot for us and our local waters.
Happy New Year from Operation SPLASH!
We'd like to thank you for volunteering and donating your
time to take care of our waterways. With your help we
have passed many significant milestones this year alone:
More than 1,250,000 total pounds of garbage
rescued from our bays.
Redirected the Jones Beach Sewage Treatment Plant
outflow pipe to no longer dump in our bays.
Made more than 350 missions during the year
to collect garbage, trash and debris
from East Rockaway to Babylon.
Launched our Island Park/Long Beach chapter.
Added a pontoon boat to our Operation SPLASH fleet
for the Bay Park/East Rockaway chapter.
Launched our first documentary-short "Standing Against
The Tide," produced by Hofstra University Students.
Made SPLASH Presentations to hundreds of interested Long Islanders, including students from as far away as Taiwan.
And so much more!
